- In 2002, PLB International was the first North American dog and cat food manufacturer to earn the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification, an internationally accepted system that consists of a straightforward yet powerful set of principles for controlling food safety.
- In October 2003, PLB International was declared to be in compliance with the new EC1774 / 2002 regulation, which was issued by the European Parliament and European Union Council. PLB is the first Canadian plant to receive the Canadian Food Inspection Agency certification. One of the certification requirements is control over production parameters through the HACCP approach.
